Sono Jet Set Roger, alias Roger Rossini, sono nato a Londra nel 1973 da madre inglese e padre italiano
Trasferitomi a Brescia ho conseguito il diploma di quinto anno di pianoforte al Conservatorio “Luca Marenzio”, studiando con Anita Porrinie e Clara Martinengo Villagana, entrambe alunne di Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Arrivato alle soglie dell’esame di ottavo anno, ho deciso di interrompere gli studi classici per dedicarmi all’attività di cantautore
Nell’arco di una carriera ventennale ho pubblicato vari dischi che spaziano fra generi diversi, anche se il Glam Rock è la mia cifra più caratteristica e ricorrente
Ho tenuto centinaia di concerti in tutto il paese ed ho collaborato con decine di artisti sia nazionali che internazionali (Omar Pedrini, Andrea Chimenti, Andy Rourke degli Smiths e Marco Pirroni di Adam & the Ants, solo per citarne alcuni)
Negli anni ho portato avanti una personale ricerca sull’origine della forma-canzone, partendo dalle ballate rinascimentali fino ad arrivare al cabaret berlinese e dalla musica pop
Nell’ambito di questo percorso ho allestito vari spettacoli, fra cui lo speciale natalizio “It’s Christmas in the Jet Set”, comprendente brani del repertorio festivo dal 1200 ad oggi, e che ha superato i vent’anni di repliche, ed il concerto “Rock Opera”, basato su estratti della Beggar’s Opera di John Gay e della Dreigroschenoper di Kurt Weill e Bertolt Brecht messi a paragone con le canzoni di Lou Reed e David Bowie
Quest’ultimo lavoro è stato messo in scena alla Festa dell’Opera di Brescia nel 2013 e all’Expo’ di Milano nel 2015
Parallelamente mi sono gradualmente avvicinato al mondo della narrativa, realizzando reading musicali con scrittori come Marco Peano e Nadia Busato, e collaborando a più riprese con il collettivo Wu Ming, per i quali ho composto canzoni e concerti a tema
Nel 2016 ho pubblicato “Lovecraft nel Polesine”, ambizioso concept-album di ambientazione letteraria, che ha riscontrato un notevole successo di critica, e che è stato presentato con Marco Peano al prestigioso Circolo dei lettori di Torino
Al disco è allegato un fumetto dell’autore serbo Aleksandar Zograf, inventore del graphic journalism e storica firma della rivista “Internazionale”
La formula è stata riproposta e ampliata nel 2020 con un nuovo concept dal titolo “Un rifugio per la notte”, basato su un racconto di Robert Louis Stevenson, e di nuovo realizzato in collaborazione con Zograf
Questo lavoro è corredato da un saggio critico, frutto di un lungo lavoro di ricerca sulle opere e sull’epistolario di Robert Louis Stevenson, portato a termine anche grazie al contributo di ricercatori e studiosi dell’autore
Fra questi il Prof. Richard Dury, autore nel 1996 del sito www.robert-louis-stevenson.org, ora gestito dalla Edinburgh Napier University e tutelato dalla British Library WebArchive

Uno spettacolo dalle atmosfere off-Broadway, con il quale il cantante di origine inglese propone un repertorio che spazia dal Kabarett berlinese al Vaudeville, dallo Swing alle canzoni della Hollywood degli anni d’oro, con qualche sortita nel Rock’n’Roll, nel Country e nella Musica Tradizionale Irlandese
Un sofisticato pastiche pieno di sorprese, un concerto “confidenziale” nel quale Jet Set Roger impersona la figura del pianista “crooner”, creando atmosfere fumose e retrò, ad un volume non troppo elevato
Ideale abbinamento per cocktail party e cene eleganti, prima che si scatenino le danze
Brani di Judy Garland, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Kurt Weill, Jacques Brel, Burt Bacharach, Lou Reed e David Bowie, fra gli altri, per un concerto durante il quale abbandonarsi alle suggestioni cinematografiche e alla ironica teatralità di questo “Ambasciatore del Glam Rock”, come è stato definito dal settimanale di informazione “Internazionale”
Ad affiancare Jet Set Roger la chanteuse italo-ungherese Angela Kinczly, e i fratelli Nicola e Mauro Carraro, rispettivamente alla chitarra acustica e al cajon

I am Jet Set Roger, alias Roger Rossini, I was born in London in 1973 from English mother and Italian father
I moved to Brescia where I graduated in Piano from the “Luca Marenzio” Conservatory, studying with Anita Porrinie and Clara Martinengo Villagana, both students of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Arrived at the threshold of the eighth year, I decided to stop classical studies to devote myself to the activity of singer-songwriter
Over a twenty-year career I have released various records that range between different genres, although Glam Rock is my most characteristic and recurring figure
I have held hundreds of concerts all over the country and have collaborated with dozens of national and international artists (Omar Pedrini, Andrea Chimenti, Andy Rourke of the Smiths and Marco Pirroni of Adam & the Ants, just to name a few)
Over the years I have carried out a personal research on the origin of the song-form, starting from the Renaissance ballads up to the Berlin cabaret and pop music
As part of this journey I have staged several shows, including the Christmas special “It’s Christmas in the Jet Set” that includes songs from the festive repertoire from 1200 to today, and that has passed twenty years of reruns, and the concert “Rock Opera” based on extracts from Beggar’s Opera by John Gay and Dreigroschenoper by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht compared to the songs of Lou Reed and David Bowie
This last work was staged at the Brescia Opera Festival in 2013 and at the Expo in Milan in 2015
At the same time I gradually approached the world of fiction, making musical readings with writers such as Marco Peano and Nadia Busato, and collaborating on several occasions with the collective Wu Ming, for which I composed songs and theme concerts
In 2016 I released “Lovecraft in the Polesine”, an ambitious concept-album of literary setting, which has found a remarkable critical success, and which was presented with Marco Peano at the prestigious Circolo dei lettori in Turin
Attached to the album is a comic by the Serbian author Aleksandar Zograf, inventor of graphic journalism and historical collaboration with the magazine “International”
The formula was revived and expanded in 2020 with a new concept entitled “A refuge for the night”, based on a story by Robert Louis Stevenson, and again made in collaboration with Zograf
This work is accompanied by a critical essay, the result of a long research work on the works and letters of Robert Louis Stevenson, completed thanks to the contribution of researchers and scholars of the author
These include Prof. Richard Dury, author in 1996 of the website www.robert-louis-stevenson.org, now managed by Edinburgh Napier University and protected by the British Library webarchive

Ich bin Jet Set Roger, alias Roger Rossini, und wurde 1973 in London als Sohn einer englischen Mutter und eines italienischen Vaters geboren
Ich zog nach Brescia, wo ich das fünfte Jahr des Klaviers am Konservatorium “Luca Marenzio” absolvierte und mit Anita Porrinie und Clara Martinengo Villagana studierte, beide Schüler von Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli
Als ich an der Schwelle zum achten Jahr der Prüfung stand, beschloss ich, mein klassisches Studium zu beenden, um mich der Tätigkeit des Songwriters zu widmen
Im Laufe meiner 20-jährigen Karriere habe ich verschiedene Alben veröffentlicht, die verschiedene Genres abdecken, obwohl Glam Rock meine charakteristischste und wiederkehrendste Stil ist
Ich habe Hunderte von Konzerten im ganzen Land gegeben und mit Dutzenden von nationalen und internationalen Künstlern zusammengearbeitet (Omar Pedrini, Andrea Chimenti, Andy Rourke von Smiths und Marco Pirroni von Adam & the Ants, um nur einige zu nennen)
Im Laufe der Jahre habe ich eine persönliche Untersuchung über den Ursprung der Liedform durchgeführt, angefangen bei den Renaissanceballaden bis hin zum Berliner Kabarett und der Popmusik
Im Rahmen dieser Route habe ich verschiedene Aufführungen organisiert, darunter das Weihnachtsspecial “It’s Christmas in the Jet Set”, das Stücke aus dem festlichen Repertoire von 1200 bis heute umfasst und das 20-jährige Replikat überwindet hat; und das Konzert “Rock Opera” basierend auf Auszügen aus der Beggar’s Opera von John Gay und der Dreigroschenoper von Kurt Weill und Bertolt Brecht im Vergleich zu den Liedern von Lou Reed und David Bowie
Diese letzte Arbeit wurde 2013 auf der Festa dell’Opera in Brescia und 2015 auf der Expo in Mailand aufgeführt
Gleichzeitig näherte ich mich der Welt der Fiktion allmählich an, indem ich musikalische Lesungen mit Schriftstellern wie Marco Peano und Nadia Busato durchführte und mehrfach mit dem Wu Ming-Kollektiv zusammenarbeitete, für das ich thematische Lieder und Konzerte komponierte
Im Jahr 2016 veröffentlichte ich “Lovecraft nel Polesine”, ein ehrgeiziges Konzept-Album der literarischen Einstellung, das einen bemerkenswerten Erfolg der Kritik gefunden hat und das mit Marco Peano dem renommierten Turiner Leserkreis vorgestellt wurde
Die Platte ist mit einem Comic des serbischen Autors Aleksandar Zograf, Erfinder des Graphic Journalism und historischen Unterzeichner der Zeitschrift “International” verbunden
Die Formel wurde im Jahr 2020 überarbeitet und mit einem neuen Konzept mit dem Titel “Eine Zuflucht für die Nacht” erweitert, basierend auf einer Geschichte von Robert Louis Stevenson, und wieder in Zusammenarbeit mit Zograf realisiert
Diese Arbeit wird von einem kritischen Aufsatz begleitet, der das Ergebnis einer langen Forschungsarbeit über die Werke und den Briefwechsel von Robert Louis Stevenson ist, die auch dank der Beiträge von Forschern und Wissenschaftlern des Autors abgeschlossen wurde
