MARCO WERBA
Compositore, musicista, direttore di coro e concertista, Marco Werba è nato a Madrid nel 1963 e vive a Roma dal 1966. Ha una formazione musicale solida, con una laurea in Composizione e Direzione Corale. Ha approfondito gli studi presso il Mannes College of Music di New York, partecipando a corsi di composizione, orchestrazione e musica da film, e ha studiato direzione d’orchestra all’Académie de Guérande in Francia.
Ha collaborato con le riviste specializzate Soundtrack e Cinemascore, intervistando celebri compositori come Jerry Goldsmith, Stanley Myers, John Scott, Gabriel Yared e Philippe Sarde. Ha fatto parte della giuria dell’International Film Festival di Messina e ha fondato il workshop “Music for Images” e il concorso internazionale per musiche da film “Mario Nascimbene Award”.
Nel 1989 ha composto la sua prima colonna sonora per il film Zoo di Cristina Comencini, vincendo il prestigioso premio italiano “Colonna Sonora”, lo stesso anno in cui Ennio Morricone e Francis Lai ricevettero il premio alla carriera. Ha scritto le musiche per numerosi film storici, tra cui Anita – Una vita per Garibaldi e, in collaborazione con Francis Lai, Amore e Libertà – Masaniello. Nel genere horror e thriller ha realizzato diverse colonne sonore, tra cui quella di Giallo, il pulp thriller di Dario Argento con Adrien Brody, che gli è valso premi come il “Fantasy & Horror Award”, il “Fantafestival Award 2010” e il “Fantasy Horror Cine Festival Award 2011”.
Oltre alla musica per film, ha composto anche numerose opere di musica classica, tra cui Adagio per le vittime di Auschwitz, Dark Symphony, Symphonic Tango e un Concerto per pianoforte in tre movimenti.
Nel 2011 ha ricevuto il prestigioso premio “Globo d’Oro” della stampa estera in Italia per la colonna sonora del thriller Native di John Real.

He was a jury member at the International Film Festival of Messina and founded the workshop “Music for Images” and the international film music competition “Mario Nascimbene Award.”
In 1989, he composed his first film score for Cristina Comencini’s movie Zoo, winning the prestigious Italian “Colonna Sonora” Award, the same year Ennio Morricone and Francis Lai received Lifetime Achievement Awards. Komponist, Musiker, Chorleiter und Konzertpianist, Marco Werba wurde 1963 in Madrid geboren und lebt seit 1966 in Rom. Er besitzt eine fundierte musikalische Ausbildung mit einem Abschluss in Komposition und Chorleitung.
